Potty training!!

My little girl is becoming such a big girl and so fast!!!! On the subject of potty training she had been showing signs for a while that she was ready and this being prior to Maverick being born.  But we really didn't want to train her and then have Maverick and revert back because of the "trauma" per se of having a sibling around.  Well we were waiting for things to settle down for her and then her cousins came to visit, the older cousin Calista has been potty trained recently and Rogue was watching her go to the bathroom with a parent, go potty and get praised.  She also saw the pretty "big girl panties" she got to wear and thought that was pretty cool too, next thing I know she was wanting to go on the potty too.  So we officially started potty training last monday, and by this point I think we are pretty well potty trained.  she tells me when she has to go, we haven't had any accidents in the last couple days and even drove to Walla Walla (an hour drive there) and back without any accidents. I even let her sleep last night in her big girl panties and we didn't have an accident!!!  she loves her panties and she gets stickers (tinkerbell ones to be exact) or a chocolate when she goes potty.  I am grateful we pretty well have her trained ( I still expect some accidents in the future) but my diaper bill will be drastically reduced!!

 My happy girl!

Maverick 2 months

Maverick, your 2 months stats:
weight:11.75 lbs
length: 14.58
head circumference: 40 cm
your are at the 50th percentile for everything except your length which was at the 75th percentile (with all the height in your family excluding your mother and nana, that isn't all that surprising!)
you still love to cuddle and stay awake during longer periods of time taking in all the sights and sounds you can see and hear. You are now starting to coo, blow bubbles and smile.  You just LOVE to talk to anyone who will talk to you. You of course just love your mommy to pieces and when I'm gone for just a little bit and come back to you, your face lights up and you flail your arms and legs in welcome. You like spending time with your daddy but he says you love me more but that's pretty normal at this stage, I know soon enough you'll want to everything daddy does. You watch your big sister in wonder and look amazed at her energy and noise.  She does love you even though she does get a little jealous at how much attention you get.  Every now and then she'll even give you a kiss!!

Sister's coming in for a kiss...
eeek! Sister's kissing me!

Maverick one month

Maverick, your first month has gone by pretty smoothly.  you pretty well sleep through the night with only waking up briefly once maybe twice during the night just long enough to "get a drink" and then you promptly fall back to sleep again (of course I change your diaper during that time but you usually sleep right through it.) You are looking around more and becoming more observant of things.  You are a major snuggle bug, you just LOVE to snuggle with mommy until you fall asleep. You can lift you head for a little bit and you seem bound and determined to keep at it so you can look around your little world. You like to favor turning your head to the left which has become a little bit of a problem because it has made your neck a little stiff and your head has flattened slightly but mommy and daddy are making you look the other way and in just a couple days it has made a lot of difference.  You have been gaining lots of weight and have even gotten taller since you were born but we won't know your official numbers until next month when you see the doctor and get your second set of shots (poor baby).

Maverick's Birth

Sorry this has taken so long, for the first time I actually have a little time since Maverick's been born where both kids are asleep and my chores aka dinner cooking and laundry going and dishes done oh wait dishes haven't been done but oh well they can wait, anyways, I can actually sit down and write out Maverick's birth story.  So here goes : )

I was scheduled to be induced May 8th, my due date was May 15th but since I had gestational diabetes they didn't want me to go past 39 weeks because he could get too big and there could be complications yada yada yada... no need to go through all the specifics since this isn't why your reading this.  Well they scheduled me right near a full moon and well full moons means any baby that's ready to come out, well they come out in force so the hospital was PACKED and they put off my induction for a couple days, basically each day I was "on call" as I put it.  I had my phone near me at all times waiting for a nurse to call and tell me to come in. I must say this was a different feeling of anxiously waiting for me than what it was with just waiting for going into labor with Rogue. I knew what was basically going to happen and I was ready to get it done and over with and hold him in my arms.

I got up early on the morning of the 10th of May with my phone in hand.  I walked out into our livingroom where Jeremy was sitting on the couch already up.  I sat down next to him to cuddle for a little while before everyone (we had a full house) got up for the day.  I sat down for MAYBE 10 minutes and I the phone rings, it is a nurse asking me if I would like to have my baby today...I thought about being a brat and saying no but thought better of it.  anyways they wanted me to check in around 8am, after getting ready, being taken out to breakfast by my wonderful hubby and dad-in-law, and getting lost in the hospital (yeeeeaaahhh the people at the front's directions SUCK) I made it to my room.

I get checked in and they give me a pill (I don't swallow it, let's just say it is inserted up somewhere) that is supposed to soften the cervix and for some women put them in labor...well by 2 pm it was determined that I wasn't going to go into labor with that so they decided to start pitocin.  I was having some contractions by this point but nothing insanly painful or serious.  They asked if I wanted my epidural at that point.  I asked if it would interfere with my labor and was told that I wouldn't....yeah they were sooo wrong.  Needless to say I was restricted to bed with no labor for the rest of the evening.

I had told my family, Jeremy included that they didn't need to stay at the hospital with me during this time.  Everyone was at the house and it was only 10 minutes away from the hospital.  With Rogue I felt a little uncomfortable having my mom and jeremy hanging around just waiting for Rogue to come (granted then we lived A  LOT farther away so it made since they stayed at the hospital) I had my phone, laptop, ipod and a bunch of dvd's. I was good to go.  Plus, I was concerned about Rogue, I didn't want her to feel abandoned by both her parents. She is a daddy's girl and I thought it was a great idea for her to be able to spend the day with him and also have him be there with her at night unless of course I was literally giving birth.  I loved being able to spend the time by myself anyway, I was able to take a nap when I wanted to, watch what I wanted to and just be at peace before having just a family of three to four.  Jeremy and Rogue did come to visit me for a while. As well as my mom and dad. As far as when I was to give birth the deal was that when I got to having real hard labor that I would give them a call and mom and Jeremy would come running.

My night shift nurse came on and started turning me side to side to get labor started which worked! Only bad thing was that I was on a clear liquid diet and hadn't eaten anything since breakfast and around 1 am my blood sugar crashed.  I had to suck down a bunch of juice and some italian ice's which got it back up.  By 2 am I felt like I really needed to push and was in a fair amount of pain. I was fully dialated but he was still too high and hadn't dropped far enough down.  By 4 am I had enough of it, I called in Jeremy and my mom while the nurse called the Anesthesiologist to get more meds for me since the epidural was giving me no relief.  My labor crew as I will call my mom and Jeremy arrived just in time for the doc to give me more meds which stopped all the pain (yay) but also stopped the labor (boo) and knocked me out (which was actually a good thing since I hadn't gotten any sleep that night)  when I woke up a couple hours later I called the nurse in to start turning me which got my labor started again.  We got it started again and after a while I was ready to push.  I ended up having lots of pain again but this time the doc only have me a small amount of meds which worked just fine.  The labor continued but I was relaxed. Actually the whole atmosphere was relaxing it was great. When Maverick's head was about to crown the nurse stopped me from pushing and she got the doctor as well as a couple nurses.  The reason for this is because with Rogue's birth her clavical had gotten broken and she was over 8 lbs.  we didn't know how big Maverick was.  my last ultrasound was well over 2 weeks prior where his weight was measured and he was 7 lbs 11 oz and at that point babies gain weight fast and with gestational diabetes they gain it even faster.  so the extra nurses were there so if his shoulders looked like they were going to get stuck a little they were going to put my legs over my head and push on my pelvis to help him out.  so everyone got ready to grab my legs if need be, I started to push and pushed a couple times and he just popped right on out.  Surprised the doc so much he juggled him a little bit. lol.  He was born at 9:30am weighing 7 pounds 9 oz and measuring 20 inches.

The countdown really begins!

Well things are getting down to the wire before Maverick makes his debut.  I'm due May 15th but because I have gestational diabetes they don't want me to go past 39 weeks.  The reason for this is because a side effect of gestational diabetes is that the babies are bigger and they obviously don't want him to get too big to where the possibility of a c-section is high as well as trauma to him let alone to me.  So an induction is scheduled for May 8th.  but because the hospital may be busy with deliveries who obviously take priority over my induction I pretty much go "on call" starting May 8th and they will call me to come in.  I'm not sure what to think about that...I think the waiting may kill me lol but then I think about being so overdue with Rogue that it reminds me to be patient and that this won't be so bad.  Obviously if I go into labor before then, there won't be an induction but so far I've had a few instances of braxton hicks' but nothing too substantial.  I think I'm pretty well ready other than I still haven't packed my hospital bag...bad me I know.  I'll probably force myself to do it today or tomorrow.  I don't know why I keep procrastinating on that but oh well.

I do wonder how Rogue will react to having another baby around.  she is so used to be the only "baby" and she is such a daddy's girl.  I see possible jealousy issues when Jeremy's holding Maverick but we shall see and just deal. She doesn't comprehend that there is a baby inside mommy's tummy, just that she needs to be careful around mommy's tummy.

I wish to thank everyone who attended or sent things for the baby shower.  I know that I have already sent thank you cards for most of you but I still want to say it again.

I can't believe it is already May, time flies and this month will be a busy one at that.  Obviously I will be giving birth to our son, there is also Mother's day, my mom's birthday, multiple family members as well as friends of the families children's birthdays, My 30th birthday as well as our 3rd wedding anniversary.  Let's just say this month will be the month of insanity I swear!!

Well I should probably get off the computer and get some laundry done and clean a bit more on the house so I'll have a nice clean house to come home to.
Take care everyone!

How time flies

Boy has time flown.  I am now 34 weeks pregnant and realizing that very soon I will be meeting Maverick.  I can say that I have officially kicked into the nesting mode, that is as much as my body is allowing me to.  it likes to kick my butt sometime to remind me that I'm not superwoman. lol. I do have a couple of pregnancy bump photos that I should probably post.  More will come when I get our family pictures from the photographer, the fabulous Diana Prince on friday.
Here is me on Valentines day:
and here I am again a couple weeks ago from one of the preview family pictures
Needless to say I am into full waddling mode. lol.
I did get diagnosed with borderline gestational diabetes, basically there are two or three factors you can fail to be fully diagnosed with it and I failed one but because my fasting bloodsugar was the fail (too high) they want to treat me like I fully have it.  SO I have to poke my finger up to 4 times a day and watch my diet like a hawk.  quite annoying but oh well, I want to keep Maverick and myself healthy so I have to do what I have to do.  We had an ultrasound on March 23rd because I have lost a fair amount of weight since I got pregnant (obviously not on my stomach but in other places lol) and they wanted to make sure he was developing all right.  He was doing fantastic weighing 4 pounds 6 ounces.  I have a doctor's appointment this friday and then another in two weeks which an ultrasound is attatched to so we shall see how big he is growing at that point.
Today I am supposed to get my co-sleeper in the mail, I can wait and hopefully it will work with how our room is situated.  I have a pack in play with a bassinet feature but it would be too big and take up too much space in our room so I got this as a better option.  The reason for getting this instead of a regular bassinett was because if I end up having to have a c section due to him being too big because of the gestational diabetes than I wouldn't have to pick him up at night to breast feed but rather scoot him over.  what can I say, I like to be prepared...sometimes too prepared as Jeremy likes to tell me. lol.
Rogue is getting bigger and bigger.  the crazy toots is now into 5T- XS in girls.  I just had to replenish her wardrobe.  I hope she didn't get all the height and that maverick won't be short. lol.  She is learning her ABC's and other words.  it is amazing how her vocabulary is getting longer and longer so quickly.  Potty training is going slowly.  mostly because we aren't pushing it.  Neither of us wanted to get her fully potty trained, have the baby come and then her revert back and have to start over.  so we are waiting to really get into it after Maverick comes and things calm down.  Right now I just put her potty seat on the toilet before her showers (yeah, no more baths...she loves just taking showers now) and leave it there until after she is dressed.  and typically she goes pee before hand and sometimes gets out of the shower to go again and then get back in.

Got a rocking chair, it is actually a recliner that rocks but still love it!!! Got it from our friends Jim and Angie.  I will definetely love it on those late nights with Maverick.  it is very comfortable!!
We also got a swing set for Rogue.  it has a slide on it too which is her favorite.  She LOVES going outside to play.  Right now due to the weather it is touch and go when we can go out to play but I can't wait till this summer when she can go out a lot more.
Well, I should probably go, some organizing is calling my name!

What's in a name?

So I said in my last blog I would announce the name we picked for our son soon so I figure it is about time I do so.  After a lot of thought and consideration we decided to name him Maverick Cannon Wilkins.  The meaning of his first name goes with Rogue's.
Let me explain:
Rogue- a playfully mischievous person; varying markedly from the normal.
Maverick- an intellectual, an artist, or a politician, who takes an independent stand apart from his or her associates.
Our nickname for the two of them is going to be double trouble : )  Yes I know we are setting ourselves up for trouble but what can I say, I guess we are glutton for punishment.

As for the middle name of cannon, yes we are naming him after the weapon.  my hubby came up with it somehow and it just seems to work really well with his first name.

So with great anticipation and joy I will be ecstatic to meet my lil man Maverick sometime in May.
